If you are having problems with D-Link's KVM switch model DKVM-2k, try this.
There is an un-documented hotkey to reset the mouse and keyboard
ScrollLock -> ScorllLock -> M
On occasion, when I switch between two computers, my mouse stopped working. Nothing short of a reboot would fix it. Now that I found out about this hotkey, I do not have to reboot the computer anymore.
When you do this the cursor will be locked up for a 2-3 seconds, but you'll have full use on both machines after that.

This is 21st century AB switching. See the nine (9) Hot Keys on page 9 of the superbly written and illustrated Quick Install Guide. Yes, the manual switch is too small, but you really don't need it. Adding audio to the standard keyboard, monitor and mouse troika is a real plus.
